Katharine McPhee to star in Waitress!

Get ready to call the doctor because McPheever is about to hit London! Katharine McPhee will be making her West End debut when she reprises the role of Jenna in the Tony Award-nominated musical Waitress which opens at the Adelphi Theatre in February.

The runner-up of the fifth season of American Idol and star of the hit TV show Smash played the lead role of Jenna on Broadway earlier this year to much acclaim. As well as being a well-known TV star, Katharine has appeared in films such as The House Bunny and is a prolific musician.

Based on the film written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress tells the story of a woman trapped in a small town, a loveless marriage, and a low-paying job. Her dream of opening a pie shop seems out of her reach until a baking contest in a neighbouring county gives her the chance of a lifetime – a chance to escape. Further hope arrives when she meets the town’s new doctor who makes her realise she really does deserve more. Supported by her friends – the other waitresses – Jenna must find the courage and strength to rebuild her life… and the new person she’s bringing into the world.

Waitress celebrates friendship, motherhood, imagination, and a delicious slice of pie. It’s from an all-female creative team which includes Grammy-nominee songstress Sara Bareilles and Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus.

You can see Katharine star as Jenna in Waitress from 8 February 2019.
