Tom Wells’ new play Jumpers For Goalposts will transfer to the Bush theatre later this year following a national tour.

Playing from 26 November (press night 27 November) to 21 December, the play is a hilarious and heart-warming tale of football, friendship and finding your way that follows Luke, Danny, Joe, Geoff and Viv as they compete in a five-a-side football tournament.

Directed by Paine Plough’s Artistic Director James Grieve, Jumpers For Goalposts, which received its world premiere at the Watford Palace theatre last month, marks a return to the Bush theatre for playwright Wells following the acclaimed 2011 run of his Critics’ Circle Award-winning play The Kitchen Sink.

Talking about the play’s forthcoming run at the Bush, the venue’s Artistic Director Madani Younis said: “We are delighted to welcome Paines Plough and its partners to the Bush theatre, which will be a homecoming, not only for Tom whose extraordinary play The Kitchen Sink premiered here in 2011, but also for James who spent two years at the Bush as Associate Director. We are thrilled to be presenting Tom’s beautiful new play to our audience, who wholeheartedly enjoyed The Kitchen Sink.”

The production will open at the Bush theatre following a national tour that sees Wells’ uplifting tale travel to venues across the UK.
