In rehearsal: The Dark Earth And The Light Sky

First Published 23 October 2012, Last Updated 20 August 2013

After the huge success of Nick Dear’s adaptation of Frankenstein for the National Theatre last year, the pressure must be on for the playwright and the world premiere of his new play The Dark Earth And The Light Sky. But from these newly released rehearsal images, it seems the cast and creative team are taking any extra pressure in their stride.

Delving into the life of the influential poet Edward Thomas, the Almeida theatre’s forthcoming production stars Posh’s Pip Carter alongside Pandora Colin, Ifan Huw Dafydd, Shaun Dooley, Hattie Morahan and Dan Poole.

In the director’s chair is Richard Eyre, who returns to the Almeida theatre to tell the drama of the relationship between two great poets, set in an era of change and destruction. You can catch the show from 8 November, but photographer Nobby Clarke offers us a sneaky preview above.
