In rehearsal: Scenes From A Marriage

First Published 6 September 2013, Last Updated 6 September 2013

Photographer Nobby Clark sat in on preparations for Trevor Nunn’s latest production to bring us scenes from the rehearsal room for Scenes From A Marriage.

Whenever Trevor Nunn stages a new production, tongues wag with anticipation; what will the multi award-winning former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre create this time?

Possibly we have slightly more of an idea with this latest project, St James theatre’s Scenes From A Marriage, as he first staged Joanna Murray-Smith’s adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s film five years ago in Coventry. This, of course, is a brand new production of the play that follows a seemingly happy marriage through betrayal and loss into divorce and beyond, and it features a new cast.

Where Coventry had Imogen Stubbs playing wife Marianne, the St James theatre has star of The Sixth Sense and An Education Olivia Williams, and where the Midlands enjoyed Iain Glen as husband Johan, Londoners can look forward to The Body Farm and The Queen’s Mark Bazeley.

Clark’s images offer a teasing glimpse of the rehearsal room to keep us going until the production begins previews on 11 September.
