In rehearsal: Paper Dolls

First Published 21 February 2013, Last Updated 20 August 2013

We love a world premiere, so when we received images from the rehearsal room of Paper Dolls, we had to share them.

Written by Philip Himberg of influential US organisation the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, Paper Dolls is the tale of Filipino immigrants in Tel Aviv who spend six days a week as carers for Orthodox Jewish men, but the seventh as a sassy musical drag act.

Based on a true story, which was turned into an award-winning documentary by Tomer Heymann, the tale of culture clashes and the need to find ‘home’ begins its run at the Tricycle theatre next week.

Photographer Tristram Kenton popped into rehearsals to capture the Paper Dolls performing, the creative team – Himberg and Tricycle theatre Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham – deep in discussion and the cast deep in preparation.
