In rehearsal: Ghosts

First Published 16 September 2013, Last Updated 16 September 2013

There’s nothing like a black and white image to evoke the bleak and chilling aura in the rehearsal room of Richard Eyre’s forthcoming production of Ghosts at the Almeida theatre.

Hugo Glendinning’s photographs of the Lesley Manville-led cast certainly do well to conjure the tragic power of Henrik Ibsen’s drama about a widowed mother struggling with grief and indecision in the face of her son’s illness.

Eyre’s new adaptation, which plays from 26 September to 23 November at the Islington venue, features a cast including Jack Lowden, Will Keen, Brian McCardie and Charlene McKenna alongside Manville as the play’s haunted protagonist Helene Alving.

Take a look at the rehearsal images above for a sneaky insight into how the production is coming along.
