In pictures: West End baubles at TKTS

Trafalgar Square might have its towering Christmas tree, but in Leicester Square there’s a new monument to the festive season… and it has baubles decorated by London’s favourite shows!

Yes the tradition of the 60 foot Norway spruce set next to Nelson’s Column might date back more than 60 years – that’s just a smidge longer than I’ve been letting this year’s Christmas pud mature for – but there has to be a first year for every great Christmas ritual, and this could be the first of many for West End baubles.

While our TKTS booth in Leicester Square may not be the usual shape for a festive ornament hanging – it’s more rectangular rather than tree-shaped – it looks ready for the season of turkey roasting, mince pie munching, Santa welcoming and over indulgence.

A whopping 26 of London’s top shows took time out of their busy schedule to add a little personalisation to a massive Christmas bauble. You can see all of them at TKTS while you pick up your on-the-day tickets, many at a great discount, for those same shows that have been creating decorations.

But if you can’t get to TKTS to see them in person – and we suggest you make it part of your trip to see the London lights if you can – here’s a cheeky gallery of those shows’ fine handycrafts. Merry Christmas.
