The stage of the Royal Opera House has witnessed a hatful or two of memorable moments in its history. It is no stranger to grandeur and performances of epic proportions.
I bet it’d never seen an Oscar-winning Hollywood star play harmonica while a multi award-winning soul singer dueted on Bridge Over Troubled Water before Kevin Spacey did just that with Beverley Knight at Sunday’s Olivier Awards.
I’d also wager that it has never been beneath the feet of a performance that forced so many people to reassess their previous views of a pop star’s vocal and dramatic ability before Nicole Scherzinger stunned many with a rendition of Memory.
So many stupendous performances, so many proud and surprised award winners, and so many celebrities from all walks of life there to reveal the recipients of the coveted statuette. Our photographer Alastair Muir was on hand to capture all the action.
You can see what happened on stage, before the winners and presenters made it to the press room, in the Olivier Awards highlights show on ITV Player.
