Dancing On Ice champion Sam Attwater will prove that he doesn’t need to be on skates to strut his funky stuff when he joins the cast of Dreamboats And Petticoats later this month.

The former EastEnders star, who won the last series of the celebrity ice-skating competition, will join the cast of the rock ‘n’ roll musical as loveable rogue Norman from 18 July.

Dreamboats And Petticoats, which is based on a hit CD of rock ‘n’ roll classics, has been entertaining London’s audiences since 2009, when it played at the Savoy theatre before transferring to its current home at the Playhouse theatre in early 2010.

Its tale of young musicians competing to win both a song writing competition and the affections of a girl has been a hit, blending a script by the writers of TV sitcoms Goodnight Sweetheart and Birds Of A Feather, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, with classic songs including Let’s Twist Again, Bobby’s Girl and Runaround Sue.

Attwater joins a cast that also includes former X-Factor contestant Scott Bruton.
