Hound and Myles debut in Utopia

First Published 10 May 2012, Last Updated 10 May 2012

Comedian Rufus Hound and Spooks star Sophia Myles are to appear in the Soho theatre’s play cycle Utopia, making their theatre debuts at the new writing venue.

They are joined by Tobi Bakare, Laura Elphinstone, Pamela Miles and David Whitaker in the collaboration between Soho and Newcastle’s Live theatre that runs in London from 20 June.

Moustachioed comedian Hound is best known for his work on TV panel shows including Argumental, Celebrity Juice, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Though Myles has never appeared on stage, she has a wealth of acting experience, having appeared in TV series including Doctor Who and Extras, and films such as Mansfield Park, Underworld, Thunderbirds and Hallam Foe.

The pair are surrounded with a wealth of London theatre experience. Bakare’s credits include Greenland and the Olivier Award-winning Gone Too Far, Elphinstone starred in Top Girls and Women Of Troy, Miles was in Darker Shores and Pygmalion, while Whitaker, one of the founders of Live theatre, Newcastle, appeared in The Pitmen Painters.

Utopia, which features writing by Anthony Neilson, Dylan Moran and Simon Stephens, among others, is a project choosing not to focus on the depressing events of the now, instead setting off on a quest for paradise.
