Greene’s Aunt Travels to Menier

Christopher Luscombe will direct the stage adaptation of Graham Greene’s Travels With My Aunt when it comes to the Menier Chocolate Factory later this year.

Adapted for the stage by Scottish actor and playwright Giles Havergal, Travels With My Aunt will play at the London Bridge venue from 2 May (press night 8 May) to 29 June.

Starring four actors in multiple roles, Greene’s anarchic comedy charts the story of retired bank manager Henry Pulling as he embarks on a globe-trotting adventure with his Aunt Augusta. From Brighton to Istanbul, the unlikely pair journeys together, discovering colourful characters and the possibilities that life conjures up in the most unusual places.

Directed by Luscombe, whose directing credits include The Madness Of George III at the Apollo theatre, Travels With My Aunt will open at the Menier Chocolate Factory following Polly Findlay’s production of David Auburn’s Tony Award-winning play Proof, which plays from 14 March to 27 April.
