Globe Exhibition plans frosty reception

Published 23 November 2010

Shakespeare’s Globe is gearing up for the Christmas season with a range of seasonal additions to its exhibition.

As well as its monthly Activity Weekends for families – the next one is held on 11 and 12 December – the Globe Exhibition will also host a temporary exhibition about London’s Frost Fairs and family storytelling sessions between Christmas and New Year.

Frost Fairs were a tradition between the 15th and 19th centuries when the river Thames regularly froze over and the ice was filled with stalls and entertainment including bear-baiting, skating and puppet shows.

The temporary exhibition will join the Globe’s regular displays, including the sword-fighting, printing and costume demonstrations on offer to families during the Activity Weekend.

All extra events are included in the price of a ticket to the exhibition, as is a tour of the theatre itself.
