Fans reveal first Bodyguard image

Published 31 October 2012

The first image of The Bodyguard’s leading duo Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen as they will appear on stage in the highly anticipated new musical was revealed today in a tantalising and suspense-filled ‘click to reveal’ prize draw.

More than 5,200 devoted theatre lovers ‘liked’ the image on Facebook, more than 500 people shared it on Twitter, with the #TheBodyguardMusical hash tag reaching 126,000 Twitter users, and the ‘click to reveal’ page was viewed more than 4,500 times before each of the tiny fragments were finally uncovered to reveal the exclusive image in its iconic entirety.

Following in the footsteps of the late singer Whitney Houston and film star Kevin Costner, who starred in the 1992 smash hit film, the image depicts Headley and Owen in costume as world famous singer Rachel Marron and Frank Farmer, the former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard employed to protect her.

Displaying the love story’s couple in black and white, the image hasn’t revealed all, as fans will have to wait until 6 November, when The Bodyguard starts previews at the Adelphi theatre, to see the highly anticipated show in its full colour glory.

Some of the lucky participants who helped reveal the momentous image will be able to enjoy the visual feast courtesy of the ‘click to reveal’ challenge, as everyone who took part was given the chance to enter a prize draw to win one of 10 pairs of tickets to see the show, with winners to be announced at the end of the week.

Directed by Thea Sharrock, The Bodyguard tells the story of a superstar whose life is put in danger by an unknown stalker. When a bodyguard is hired to protect her, both expect to be in charge but neither expect to fall in love.

Featuring songs by Houston including Queen Of The Night, So Emotional, One Moment In Time, I Have Nothing, How Will I Know, and, of course, the legendary I Will Always Love You, The Bodyguard is currently booking until 27 April.
