Two family-friendly shows have been announced at the Soho theatre, with Comedy Club 4 Kids returning to the venue next month and festive show Stick Man arriving for the Christmas period.
Comedy Club 4 Kids runs from 26 September to 5 December and is hosted by James Campbell. Suitable for everyone over the age of six, the show brings the delights of stand-up comedy to an audience usually tucked up in bed long before comedians have even uttered their first joke. Featuring a selection of top UK stand-ups, children can enjoy their routines with their parents safely in the knowledge that the rude bits have been removed.
For all budding young comics, Comedy 4 Kids runs children’s comedy classes before each show, with the participants then given the chance to perform later on in the main event. For more information, visit the Soho theatre website.
Family show Stick Man is adapted from the book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the creators behind The Gruffalo, which has also been adapted for the stage. Stick Man tells the story of a stick who lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their stick children. One day Stick Man is separated from the tree and gets himself into all sorts of dangerous situations. There is the dog who wants to play with him, a swan who builds a nest with him and the unfortunate risk of catching on fire! Will Stick Man ever get home safely?
Suitable for children aged 4+, Stick Man runs from 10 December to 6 January. The show is produced by Scamp Theatre and Watford Palace, the team behind family hits including Michael Morpurgo’s Aesop’s Fables, Private Peaceful and The Mozart Question.
