Sharon D Clarke and the cast of Caroline, Or Change in rehearsals

Exclusive first look at Caroline, Or Change

Next week, the highly anticipated revival of the Olivier Award-winning musical Caroline, Or Change is opening at the Playhouse Theatre. And in anticipation of this epic transfer, we snuck into rehearsals and took a sneaky video to share with you!

Watch the exclusive video below to see the Olivier Award-winning Sharon D Clarke and the rest of the cast as they prepare for the big stage.

Written by Tony Kushner (Angels In America) and Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), Caroline, Or Change is a playful, profound, funny and deeply moving tale.

Set in 1963 Louisiana, change is in the air. But the spirit of revolution is worlds away from the life of poorly paid maid Caroline who barely scrapes a living by working in the sweltering basement of the Gellman household.

When the Gellman son, Noah, sneaks down to see her, an unexpected friendship blossoms. When the pair are together, the basement transforms into a fantastical place of singing radios, washing machines and dryers. But as Noah continually leaves money in his pockets, Caroline is faced with a dilemma which tests how far the winds of change can ever really reach.

Caroline, Or Change had sold-out runs at both the Chichester Festival Theatre and Hampstead Theatre. Now, it’s making its London comeback and, if the rehearsal is anything to go by, we’re expecting huge things.
