Everything Must Go in Soho economy season

Soho theatre has announced a two-week season of short plays exploring the effects of the current economic climate. Everything Must Go, which runs from 23 June to 4 July, is being staged in an effort to “stimulate a creative response” to the situation.

Directed by Soho theatre Artistic Director Lisa Goldman and Esther Richardson, the season has been curated with speed in mind. Rather than take time to formulate full-scale pieces, the writers taking part will create bite-sized responses which will be rehearsed over a two-week period and performed without sets.

Among the playwrights commissioned for Everything Must Go are Steve Thompson (Roaring Trade), Oladipo Agboluaje (The Hounding Of David Oluwale), Bola Agbaje (Gone Too Far), Will Eno, Kay Adshead, Marisa Carnesky, Ron McCants, Megan Barker and Paula B Stanic.

Everything Must Go plays as part of Soho theatre’s summer season, which also includes Agboluaje’s Ìyà-Ilé and Out of Joint co-production Dreams Of Violence, by Stella Feehily.
