Eclair enjoys second Grumpy West End residency

Published 16 March 2010

Susie Blake, Wendi Peters and Jenny Eclair are to appear in Grumpy Old Women Live 2: Chin Up Britain when it comes to London’s Novello theatre from 14 April to 5 June.

Written by Eclair and Judith Holder, Grumpy Old Women Live 2: Chin Up Britain is the follow up to Grumpy Old Women Live which spent a month at the Lyric theatre in 2006. Both shows evolved from the hit BBC television programme of the same name which involved a group of middle-aged women grumbling about various aspects of modern life.

In this second stage incarnation the testy trio will be offering tips about coping with Excessive Cleaning Disorder, overcoming menu masochism and combining household chores with safe sex. There will also be on-stage skipping, a DIY disco and live gymkhana.

Actress, writer and Perrier Award-winning comedian Éclair is a regular contributor on radio shows Woman’s Hour, Banter and Just A Minute. On stage she has been seen in The Vagina Monologues, Mum’s The Word and Steaming. She was recently seen on television alongside Blake and former Grumpy Old Women Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph in Let’s Dance for Sport Relief.

Blake and Peters are both former stars of Coronation Street. Blake’s theatre credits include Wicked at the Apollo Victoria theatre and Noises Off at the National Theatre and West End. Peters, also well known for TV’s Bad Girls, has appeared on stage in The Vagina Monologues and several productions on tour.

Grumpy Old Women Live 2: Chin Up Britain occupies the Novello theatre following Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, which ends its run on 10 April.
