Door Never Closes for young people at Almeida

The Almeida theatre’s Education department premieres a new play for young people this month. Rex Obano’s The Door Never Closes plays from 25 to 28 May and is accompanied by a free workshop.

The Door Never Closes follows two young people at crucial points of change in their lives, navigating their path through a world in which technology determines their personal relationships. The play enables students to engage with the issues of choice and personal responsibility in areas of the National curriculum including English, drama and citizenship.

Tickets to the play cost just £1 and include a free workshop giving participants an insight into how The Door Never Closes has been created. Led by professional theatre directors and actors, the workshops encourage a practical exploration of the ideas in the play.

Playwright Obano, who is also an actor, has previously written Burned To Nothing for the Almeida theatre. His other work includes Someone’s Son at the Union theatre and Aoife at the Soho theatre.
