Director Foster joins Barmy Britain cast

First Published 1 May 2012, Last Updated 3 May 2012

Neal Foster, co-writer of Horrible Histories and founder of Birmingham Stage Company, will join the cast of Horrible Histories Barmy Britain, the latest stage adaptation from the much-loved series of children’s books.

The multi-talented Foster – who now can boast actor, writer and director credits for the show – will join the cast from 9 May as Rex alongside Horrible Histories regular and Encore Magazine’s Best Villain Award-winner Alison Fitzjohn, who will play Queenie.

Horrible Histories Barmy Britain runs at the Garrick theatre until 21 September. Since opening in February in the ‘Loathsome London’ venue, the show has become the longest running daytime children’s theatre production in modern West End history.

Co-written by Foster, Terry Deary, the creator of the best-selling Horrible Histories series, and Ciaran McConville, the family show tells the gruesome story of Britain with all the gory, smelly and disgusting bits left in. Audience members will discover why the Romans never won MasterChef, what would happen if a Viking moved in next door and why it’s best not to lose your heart or head to horrible Henry.

Horrible Histories Barmy Britain is taking part in Get Into London Theatre Summer 2012, offering £15 tickets for £10 between 21 June and 1 September. Tickets must be booked by 31 May. Book now!
