Cirque du Soleil will head to London next year with the return of its critically acclaimed big top theatrical production Kooza at the Royal Albert Hall.
Described as “an adrenaline rush of acrobatics in a zany kingdom”, the world famous company will reprise Kooza at the legendary venue for a limited run from 6 January to 8 February.
Written and directed by acclaimed clown and theatremaker David Shiner, the eccentric show takes Cirque du Soleil back to its origins, combining acrobatic performance with the art of clowning.
Telling the story of The Innocent, the quirky and visually spectacular production explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power with an array of slapstick characters set against the company trademark exotic design.
Kooza made its London premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in 2013 when Official London Theatre’s Kate Stanbury described the show as “a jam-packed evening of jaw-dropping, mind-boggling, nerve-wracking, side-splitting, heart-stopping entertainment.”
It is just one of many uniquely colourful and physically astounding productions that Cirque du Soleil has created over its 30 year history. From humble beginnings as a group of 20 street performers, the company has since worked with thousands of artists from 50 different countries with around 150 million spectators having watched its gravity-defying performances.
