Christopher Timothy will join David Essex in the cast of his new musical All The Fun Of The Fair at the Garrick theatre from 20 April.
Timothy came to prominence in the long-running series All Creatures Great And Small and has continued to be well known for his screen work which includes daytime soap Doctors. However Timothy has a plethora of stage work, including West End appearances in Journey’s End, See How They Run and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead.
All The Fun Of The Fair is inspired by Essex’s album of the same name and is set in the mystic milieu of a fairground, amid the dodgems, candy floss and carousel horses. Essex stars as Levi Lee, a recently widowed father of a rebellious teenage son (Michael Pickering). Danger lurks around the corner for Levi, as predicted by the gypsy fortune teller who is in love with him.
The musical features many of Essex’s greatest hits, including Winter’s Tale, Gonna Make You A Star and Rock On.
Also joining Essex and Pickering in the cast are seasoned musical theatre actress Louise English, whose credits include Me And My Girl at the Adelphi theatre, and former Grease and Wicked star Nicola Brazil, along with Cameron Jack, Susan Hallam-Wright, Chris Holland, Kieran Jae, Tom Kanavan, Tim Newman, Robert Rees, Emily Tierney, Tricia Adele Turner, Shona White and Danielle York.
David Gilmore’s production opens to the press on 28 April and is booking until 5 September.
Currently playing at the Garrick theatre is Douglas Carter Beane’s The Little Dog Laughed, which ends its run on 10 April.
