Rock Of Ages will be power-stancing and devil horn-flicking in aid of charity on 16 November, when it stages a special gala performance in aid of Children In Need.
The new musical, which boasts the biggest hair and finest mullet on the London stage, will donate all proceeds from the performance, together with on the night donations and raffle takings, to BBC London 94.9fm Rocks for Children In Need.
BBC London presenters Vanessa Feltz, Gaby Roslin and Tony Blackburn will all be on hand to open the evening’s lighter-waving spectacular.
Blackburn, the radio station’s Sunday Soul and Motown presenter is particularly excited, commenting: “What an evening we are going to have! The 80s were full of fun and fun music, and I can’t think of a better way to raise a fantastic amount for BBC Children In Need.”
Rock Of Ages, which opened last week at the Shaftesbury theatre, tells a classic love story of boy meets girl set in 80s LA, where men rocked and women wanted to be stars. With the local haunts threatened by a German developer, what will happen to our pair of lovers and the legendary Bourbon Room?
The story is told with the aid of a collection of soft rock classics including The Final Countdown, We Built This City, Wanted Dead Or Alive and Don’t Stop Believin’.
Last year’s BBC Children In Need Jersey Boys gala night raised £60,000. Rock Of Ages cast members Justin Lee Collins, Shayne Ward, Oliver Tompsett, Simon Lipkin and Amy Pemberton will be doing their guitar-thrashing best to beat that total.
