Chance to join Hampstead’s young company

Hampstead theatre is holding auditions on 16-17 September for young people aged 10-25 to join the autumn season of the Heat & Light company.

Heat & Light is Hampstead theatre’s youth theatre company, made up of budding young performers, writers, directors, stage managers and technicians. Each term the company runs theatrical projects for participants which culminate in performances of the work they have developed. In previous years participants have had the chance to work with playwrights including this year’s Laurence Olivier Award-winner Bola Agbaje, Jane Bodie and Dennis Kelly.

This season Heat & Light has extended its reach to 10-year-olds – it had previously been open to participants with a minimum age of 11 – and financial support by John Lyon’s Charity means the company continues to be free for all members.

Projects this autumn centre on two commissioned plays and one writing production, which will be developed by three groups of different age ranges: 10-14, 14-18 and 18-25. Auditions for the projects are held on 16 and 17 September at Hampstead theatre and rehearsals will be held weekly, culminating in performances of all three productions from 27 November.
