Cast revealed for Matthew Perry play

Published 8 January 2016

Matthew Perry’s new play The End Of Longing will open on the London stage with a cast including the previously announced Friends star, Christina Cole, Jennifer Mudge and Lloyd Owen.

The bittersweet comedy, which runs at the West End’s Playhouse Theatre from 2 February to 14 May, will star the quartet as four lost souls entering their 40s and searching for meaning. After a raucous night in a downtown LA bar, their lives become irreversibly linked in a way that forces them to confront the darker side of their relationships.

The End Of Longing sees Cole return to the London stage after appearances in The Magistrate (National Theatre) and The Lightening Play (Almeida Theatre). The English actress who rose to fame in Sky 1’s Hex has more recently appeared in US dramas The Blacklist, Arrow and Suits.

It is a return to London too for Owen, the British stage regular whose most recent credits include Good People (Hampstead Theatre) and The Bodyguard (Adelphi Theatre).

For American actress Mudge, The End Of Longing will be a West End debut. A regular on the New York stage, Mudge was recently nominated for a Lortel Award for her performance as The Witch in Into The Woods.

The previously announced Perry, best known for playing Friends’ Chandler Bing, last starred in a London theatre in 2003’s Sexual Perversity In Chicago. That David Mamet play was directed by Lindsay Posner, who also directs Perry’s new production.
