Simon Callow and Bonnie Langford will be squaring up on the stage of Richmond theatre this Christmas as they return to the South London venue to play Captain Hook and Peter in the theatre’s pantomime, Peter Pan.

Callow is one of the UK’s best-loved actors, both in the theatre and on screen. His many stage credits include Amadeus, The Woman In White, The Holy Terror, The Mystery Of  Charles Dickens, The Merry Wives Of Windsor and the recent national tour of Equus. He has previously appeared at Richmond in Aladdin. On film he is well known for his roles in Amadeus, A Room With A View, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Shakespeare In Love and Postcards From The Edge, as well as the mini-series Angels In America on television. He has also frequently directed in the West End.

After achieving success as a child actress in TV series Just William and the film Bugsy Malone, Langford went on to develop an enduring career that has incorporated stage, television and recordings. Her West End credits include the original cast of Cats, Gypsy – which transferred to Broadway – Me And My Girl, Sweet Charity, Peter Pan The Musical and, more recently, Chicago. She is also well known for playing the Doctor’s assistant in television series Doctor Who during the 1980s and reaching the final of ITV’s celebrity ice dancing competition Dancing On Ice in 2006.

Written by JM Barrie, Peter Pan tells the story of our eponymous hero, a young boy who never wants to grow up. After meeting children Wendy, John and Michael in the real world, Peter whisks his new friends back to Neverland in order to save the fairy Tinkerbell from the clutches of the evil Captain Hook. With help from the Lost Boys, Peter and the children must dodge a crocodile and fight a crew of pirates before the final showdown with Peter’s arch nemesis, Captain Hook himself.

Peter Pan runs from 5 December 2008 to 11 January 2009, with a press night on 10 December.
