Bush’s Storystock returns for 2016

Published 12 January 2016

The Bush Theatre’s hugely popular half-term storytelling festival will return next month with a packed line-up of live performances, readings, creative workshops, parties and even a story treasure hunt.

Described as a “travelling story circus”, Storystock will take up residency at the Shepherd’s Bush venue from 17 to 19 February ready to entertain everyone aged two to 11-years-old with a passion for stories.

A highlight of this year’s festival will be Story Pocket Theatre’s A Pocketful Of Grimms & Arabian Nights, an energetic mix of clowning, physical theatre, puppetry and music, which arrives in London following its Primary Times Best Children’s Show Award win at last year’s Edinburgh Festival.

There’s also puppetry fun from The Tempest In A Tea Cup, a marathon race through 26 classic stories in 26 minutes in The Myth Marathon Show and a musical take on an old favourite, The Secret Garden.

For those that love nothing more than settling down to a good old-fashioned storytelling session, the Bush Theatre has everything from monsters to hungry jungle animals on offer with sessions including Gruffalos, Giants & Sticks, Once Upon A Fairytale, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and the intriguingly titled The Tiger Who Came To STORYSTOCK.

Running alongside the performances, young story lovers can take part in song writing workshops, creative writing classes, meet their favourite authors in pop-up book signings or enjoy the festival’s all-day creative doodling café.
