Bush appoints Jon Gilchrist

Jon Gilchrist will succeed Sian Alexander as Executive Director of the Bush Theatre. The current Marketing Director of Salford Quays’ The Lowry will take up the post on 1 September joining Madani Younis at the helm of the popular new writing venue.

Following roles at successful regional theatres including The Octagon, The Dukes and Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake, Gilchrist said it was “a real honour” to be joining the Shepherd’s Bush venue, explaining: “The Bush is at the forefront of British theatre, and the wonderful new building combined with the artistic vision of Madani Younis provide the perfect platform to celebrate new writing and develop fresh creative voices.”

Describing it as “a great pleasure” to welcome Gilchrist to the theatre, Younis said: “Jon joins the theatre at an important moment of growth for the organisation, as we continue to invest in and nurture the plurality of voices writing a new chapter in the Bush Theatre’s history. I look forward to working with him to further cement the theatre’s place in its new home in Shepherds Bush and together shape the future growth of the organisation.”

Gilchrist, who boasts a strong background in communications and marketing, will follow Alexander’s two and a half year tenure as interim Executive Director when she leaves to return to her freelance consultancy career.
