Blood Brothers legends reunite for final weeks

Blood Brothers legends Lyn Paul, Warwick Evans, Mark Hutchinson, Jan Graveson and Sean Jones will return to hit musical Blood Brothers for the final two weeks of its run at the Phoenix theatre.

From tonight, Willy Russell’s hugely successful musical will star Evans as The Narrator alongside fellow cast members Hutchinson and Graveson, who appeared opposite him both in London and on Broadway.

They will be joined by Paul, who made her Blood Brothers debut more than 16 years ago as Mrs Johnston and went on to become one of the musical’s longest serving leading ladies, and Jones, who has performed in the show more times than any of the others, as Micky.

Beginning as a school play performed by a Liverpool comprehensive school in 1981, Blood Brothers opened at the Liverpool Playhouse in 1993 before transferring to the West End.

Now the third longest running musical ever to play in the West End, the production, which features songs including Tell Me It’s Not True, Marilyn Monroe, Shoes Upon The Table and The Devil’s Got Your Number, tells the story of Liverpudlian twins who are separated at birth and taken to different ends of the social spectrum before being reunited once again by a twist of fate.

Blood Brothers, which comes to the end of its run on 10 November following more than two decades in the West End, will be followed into the Phoenix theatre by David Wood’s adaptation of children’s classic Goodnight Mister Tom, which plays a limited festive run from 22 November to 26 January.
