A musical comedy featuring sex-crazed nymphs, hunchbacks and a disembodied head will bring its special brand of enchantment to the Trafalgar Studios this summer.

Betwixt!, which is written and directed by Ian McFarlane, runs from 26 July until 20 August, telling the story of Bailey, a New York writer struggling with writer’s block. Bailey and his flamboyant roommate Cooper are catapulted into an enchanted world, fulfilling a prophecy. The pair embark on a quest to find a fading daytime TV star who is the only hope for saving a pregnant princess from losing the throne.

The comic tale that also features cross-dressing mutes, dancing reporters and an evil, world-dominating enchantress was first seen at the King’s Head theatre in 2008 before being staged as a concert production at the Ambassadors theatre later that year.

Casting for this new production is yet to be announced, though choreography will be by Grace Harrington who previously worked on Lucky Stiff at the Bridewell theatre and Nine at the Albany theatre.
