Bend It Like Beckham extends

First Published 14 August 2015, Last Updated 14 August 2015

Bend It Like Beckham The Musical has extended its run at the Phoenix Theatre to 20 February and, to celebrate, the football hit has released its cast album online.

Fans of the show, which brings the story of the football crazy girl made famous in the 2002 film to the stage, can now download the cast’s recording of Howard Goodall and Charles Hart’s score on iTunes or Amazon. The CD will soon follow when it is released on 11 September.

Bend It Like Beckham The Musical opened at the Phoenix Theatre earlier this summer and had been booking until October. No doubt helped by a host of glowing reviews, audiences now have a further four months to catch the show as more than 140,000 new tickets are released for sale today.

Natalie Dew and Jamie Campbell Bower lead the story of a local woman’s football team and the conflict of Dew’s Jess as she is forced to decide between living her dreams or living up to her family’s expectations.

Described as a fusion of “culture, music, emotions and fun,” Official London Theatre heralded the show as being “Irresistibly joyful and gloriously heart-warming.”

The show features songs including Girl Perfect, Heer, Bend It, People Like Us and Glorious, all of which will be included on the cast album that was recorded live over the course of several performances.

The Gurinder Chadha-directed Bend It Like Beckham The Musical is one of many shows taking part in Kids Week, our annual kids go free promotion. You can book Kids Week tickets for performances throughout August. For tickets from September or for anyone not seeing the show with a child, you can book through us here.
