Families can look forward to a weekend of free dance, theatre and activities in east London this summer, as the Barbican Theatre and Create London have teamed up to host the Walthamstow Garden Party in Lloyd Park on 26 and 27 July.

Created in partnership with Waltham Forest Council, the two-day event will feature performances and workshops from theatre and dance groups including award-winning hip-hop dance company Blue Boy Entertainment, all-female dance troupe Bollywood Vibes and Rock A Hula!, a company renowned for its eclectic combination of 1950s rock ‘n’ roll, hula hooping and swing dancing.

Other highlights include a variety of circus acts courtesy of Gravity Circus Centre, acrobatic skills from The Black Eagles and pop-up performances that promise to “entertain, inspire and surprise” by The Fairly Famous Family.

The weekend event will also feature an array of additional activities, from sports taster sessions to a mini garden party for children under five, which can be enjoyed by families through the course of the weekend.

Entry to the event is free and no tickets are required. For more details visit the Barbican Theatre’s website.
