UPDATED: The Lyric Hammersmith’s recently launched youth theatre company the Lyric Young Company is holding auditions for young West Londoners to perform in its debut season this summer.

Launched earlier this year, the Lyric Young Company allows young people with an interest in writing, directing and performing to make theatre with the Lyric Hammersmith. Membership costs £5 a year and is open to 14-19 year olds who live or attend a school in the West London area (boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Harrow).

On Saturday 12 May, auditions were held to find budding performers to star in the first of two shows that will make up the Lyric Young Company’s first season: Accidental Heroes, a highly physical show about courage and violence written and directed by Mark Murphy.

The second show of the season is The Luna Club, devised by Anglo-Brazilian theatre-makers Dende Collective about a magical world inspired by well-known Latin American writers. The Luna Club is looking for theatre talents aged 14-16 and auditions take place on Tuesday 29 May (10:30-12:30, 14:30-16:30) and Wednesday 30 May (10:30-12:30, 14:30-16:30).

Booking for auditions is essential – ring 08700 500 511 to reserve your place. Second auditions will be held at a later date. For more information on the two productions, visit www.lyric.co.uk

The Luna Club runs in the Lyric Studio from 1-4 August, while Accidental Heroes plays on the main stage from 2-4 August.
