Audience Award 2016: Beautiful

First Published 23 February 2016, Last Updated 11 March 2016

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is a newcomer to the Magic Radio Audience Award in 2016. The tale of the titular singer/songwriter opened in London’s West End in February 2015, becoming a firm favourite with theatregoers faster than you can say Will You Love Me Tomorrow.

The hit musical, a Tony Award winner on Broadway before it made the leap to London, follows King on her journey from schoolgirl to superstar as she writes hit after incredible hit. Among those million-selling toe tappers are the timeless One Fine Day, Natural Woman and You Make The Earth Move.

At last year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard, Beautiful’s original Carole King, Katie Brayben, won the award for Best Actress in a Musical , while Lorna Want, who continues to play King’s friend and song writing rival Cynthia Weil, won the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

We spoke to Beautiful’s current King, Cassidy Janson, to find out how she feels about the show and being in the running for the Magic Radio Audience Award.

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is booking at the Aldwych Theatre to 29 October. You can book tickets through us here.
