Our House In Concert

Anniversary party at Our House

Olivier Award-winning Madness musical Our House is to make a one-off West End return to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

To mark a decade since the Camden-set tale first lit up the West End, original director Matthew Warchus has reunited with the show’s designer, and regular collaborator, Rob Howell to create a special concert performance that will be held at the Savoy theatre on 11 November.

The event, which will also feature Madness frontman Suggs and host of the musical’s original cast, is being held in aid of armed forces charity, Help For Heroes.

Speaking about the project, Warchus, who won an Olivier Award earlier in the year for his direction of Matilda The Musical, said: “What a great pleasure it is to be revisiting one of my all-time favourite projects for this charity concert version. I can’t wait to unpack it again. It must be love indeed.”

Our House, which features a book by Calendar Girls writer Tim Firth, won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical when it opened in London in 2002. The romantic comedy follows the story of Joe Casey and the night he commits a petty crime in the hope of impressing his girlfriend. Should he stay to face the police or should he run? Our House looks at both paths, punctuating the action with Madness’s famous songs including Baggy Trousers, Driving In My Car, It Must Be Love and the title track.

Our House In Concert is borrowing the stage of the Savoy for one evening from Rufus Norris’s revival of darkly decadent musical Cabaret, which features former EastEnder Michelle Ryan and Pop Idol winner Will Young as stars of the Kit Kat Klub, Sally Bowles and Emcee.
