Angry Men join 24 Hour Plays

Published 19 November 2013

Nick Moran and Jeff Fahey, who can currently be seen arguing about the guilt of a murder suspect in Twelve Angry Men, are the latest celebrities to sign up for the Old Vic’s 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala.

The annual fundraiser for the Waterloo venue will also feature Lesley Manville, whose acclaimed Almeida theatre production of Ghosts transfers to the Trafalgar Studios next month and Lesley Sharp, who will appear in the National Theatre’s A Taste Of Honey in 2014.

Also among the high profile cast, who will create, rehearse and stage six short plays in just a day, are Fresh Meat co-stars Jack Whitehall and Zawe Ashton, actress and impressionist Ronni Ancona, former Skins star Kaya Scodelario, Anthony Head, Jaime Winstone, Neil Stuke, Amanda Donohoe and model turned actress Lily Cole.

The event, which will be hosted by Rob Brydon and will also feature the previously announced Douglas Booth, Catherine Tate, Tom Ellis, Clive Rowe and Tina Hobley, will be staged this Sunday following frantic work the previous day by all involved.

Speaking about the star-studded event, Kevin Spacey, Artistic Director of the venue, said: “I am immensely proud of what the Old Vic has achieved over the past 10 years of The 24 Hour Plays® Celebrity Gala. We have raised funds to directly engage with over 50,000 young people via Old Vic New Voices projects. OVNV is about inspiring remarkable talent and opening up our theatre to the next generation. I am grateful to all who have been involved in the past decade of The 24 Hour Plays® at the Old Vic since 2004 and look forward to what this year’s birthday celebration has in store.”

Tickets are still available for the extravaganza of swiftly-staged theatre that has, over the last nine years, raised more than £1 million to invest into the theatre’s work with emerging talent and education and community programmes. Prices range from £75 to £500 and can be bought online at the Old Vic website or by calling the box office on 0844 871 7628.
