Cometh the hour, cometh the hero. Former Hollyoaks and Doctors actor Andy Moss will lead the Knights Of The Rose cast this summer, as they charge through a rip-roaring soundtrack of Bon Jovi, Bonnie Tyler and Black Sabbath in defence of the realm.
Best known for his eight-year portrayal of Rhys Ashworth in Channel 4’s flagship drama Hollyoaks, Andy will play the lead character, knight Gawain, whose victorious return from battle heralds the discovery of a deeper conflict. Andy recently completed a national tour playing the lead role of Sam Wheat in Ghost The Musical.
He joins the rest of the Knights Of The Roses cast, recently announced to be Adam Pearce (recent star of Les Misérables and Urinetown), Chris Cowley (Wicked), Oliver Saville (Wicked), Rebecca Bainbridge (Mamma Mia!), Rebekah Lowings (Dick Whittington), Matt Thorpe (American Idiot), Ruben Van Keer (Bat Out Of Hell), Katie Birtill (The Last Five Years) and Bleu Woodward (Kinky Boots).
“We are incredibly excited to have Andy onboard as our hero Gawain,” said director Racky Plews. “Andy not only embodies this heroic knight, but also has the powerhouse rock vocals that bring justice to these beloved and classic songs.”
Andy commented “I have always had a passion for both rock music and theatre and where better to bring the two together than in this high-voltage, West End stage production.”
Created by Jennifer Marsden, Knights Of The Rose is a classic rock musical of Shakespearean proportions, featuring a playlist of legendary ballads, timeless tunes and show-stopping anthems from the likes of Muse, Meat Loaf and No Doubt.
An epic tale of love, betrayal, sacrifice and nobility, Knights Of The Rose begins performances at the Arts Theatre on 29 June.
