Andrew Dunn is on track to take over the role of Mr Perks in Mike Kenny’s Olivier Award-winning adaptation of The Railway Children from tomorrow.

It’s full steam ahead for the Coronation Street and Dinnerladies star to replace Sean Hughes in E Nesbit’s classic story following the comedian and actor’s final performance in the show this evening.

Dunn, whose theatre credits include the recent UK touring production of The Full Monty, will take on the role of the much-loved station master who Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis befriend when they move with their mother to rural Yorkshire.

Having left London after their father is mysteriously taken away, the three children embark on a magical journey of discovery, friendship and adventure as they wonder where their father is and whether he’s coming back.

Dunn joins a cast including Caroline Harker, Louise Calf, Clare Corbett, Jack Hardwick, Mark Hawkins, Connie Hyde, Andrew Loudon, Serena Manteghi, Blair Plant and Moray Treadwell, all of whom have been with the production since it opened at the King’s Cross Theatre in December 2014.

Staged in a purpose built 1,000-seat theatre boasting a railway track and platforms, The Railway Children brings the early 20th century classic to life with the help of a live stream train and vintage carriage.

The Railway Children, which is currently booking at the King’s Cross venue until 6 September, is taking part in Kids Week 2015, our annual ticket promotion offering a free child’s ticket for every full price ticket purchased for performances throughout August.

Theatre-loving families can take advantage for this incredible offer, which is also valid on a host of other popular London shows, at www.kidsweek.co.uk. Tickets for The Railway Children can also be booked through us.
