A Hurly Burly Arts autumn

First Published 24 June 2008, Last Updated 30 June 2008

Award-winning burlesque artists Miss Polly Rae and the Hurly Burly Girlys, and Mr Dusty Limits, will bring their blend of cabaret, variety and burlesque to the Arts theatre this autumn.

The Hurly Burly Show, one of London’s most popular burlesque cabaret shows which can normally be seen every month at the Soho Revue Bar, plays at the Arts from 6-8 November.

The hit show’s success saw its titillating, talented ladies crowned Best Troupe at the 2007 Ministry of Burlesque Awards, where compere Dusty Limits also walked away with the awards for Best Male Singer and Best Male Performer.

The Hurly Burly Girlys, as one would expect of burlesque stars, aren’t afraid of the spotlight. Their image has graced the cover of listings bible Time Out and they have also been seen on BBC3. Rising burlesque star Miss Polly Rae has appeared on teatime chat show The Paul O’Grady Show and is currently the face of Agent Provocateur’s national advertising campaign.

With his three-octave range and often macabre song choices, Mr Dusty Limits, who is master of ceremonies for the Hurly Burly Show, is considered the ‘dark prince of cabaret’.

This will not be the first time that burlesque has taken the spotlight at the Arts theatre. In the summer of 2005 Immodesty Blaize, considered the queen of British burlesque, played a season at the venue, ably assisted by her singularly monikered co-star Walter.
