42nd Street bursts onto West End

First Published 5 August 2016, Last Updated 5 August 2016

Backstage musical comedy classic 42nd Street is to burst onto the West End in March 2017 at its oldest theatre, the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

An ever-popular, spectacular and romantic homage to the world of musical theatre, 42nd Street is set to once again dazzle London Theatregoers from Monday 20 March 2017 with its legendary score and all-singing, all-dancing, high-kicking cast of over 50 performers, with direction from the show’s author Mark Bramble.

Having scooped both the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best New Musical upon its inception in the 1980s, the timeless musical features some of the greatest theatrical songs ever written, including We’re In The Money, I Only Have Eyes For You, Lullaby Of Broadway, Shuffle Off To Buffalo and, of course, 42nd Street.

Telling the story of a young, fresh-faced performer, Peggy Sawyer, who gets on the bus hoping to make her dreams come true on Broadway, an unexpected chance to elevate her fortunes from chorus line to leading lady is suddenly thrust upon her. Can she grasp the stardom she’s always dreamed of?

Of the exciting announcement, Bramble said, “The original production had the look of a Warner Brothers black and white film. This time we’re doing an MGM Technicolor version of 42nd Street with additional songs and dances.

“The theme of the show speaks louder today than ever before:  follow your bliss and with talent and hard work dreams can come true.”

Tickets for the exciting show are now on sale; you can purchase your tickets through us here.

42nd Street follows the conclusion of four golden years of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory at the iconic venue, with the Sam Mendes-directed and Olivier Award-winning musical booking until 7 January before embarking on a UK tour.
