I Am Yusuf And This Is My Brother is set in January 1948, Palestine. War begins and the villagers mourn the loss of the land they have worked for generations as unimaginable changes take place around them.

Ali has a burning passion for Nada, but he is in despair. Her father won’t let them marry. Yusuf, Ali’s disabled brother, sees the unfolding events from his own eccentric, child-like point of view. Rufus, a soldier on the occupying British forces, longs for the cold fogs of Sheffield.

I Am Yusuf And This Is My Brother is a powerful and poetic exploration of history, memory and different forms of love.

Amir Nizar Zuabi, the Palestinian playwright who wrote I Am Yusuf And This Is My Brother, is the Young Vic International Associate whose Alive From Palestine was seen at the Young Vic in 2002.
