Kids Week Activities 2023

We’re excited to share with you our schedule of Kids Week activities for 2023! Each year, some of the shows participating in Kids Week host an activity, from dance workshops where you can learn the moves to an iconic number from the show, to Q&As where the whole family can sit down with the cast and creative team to discover backstage secrets. You must have booked tickets with Kids Week on the date of the activity to attend. Bookers to performances with a limited capacity activity will be emailed an Eventbrite link after your booking and the activity places will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Can’t see your favourite show? We will be adding new activities so make sure to check back!

This list is for reference only. You can book your theatre tickets from Tuesday 13 June and then look for the blue stars on the calendars which denote the performances that have an activity attached.

 

Ain’t Too Proud – Q&A

Thursday 10 August, 5.20pm – 6pm (after the matinee performance)

Prince Edward Theatre

Join members of the Ain’t Too Proud company for a post show Q&A with members of the company to discuss themes within the show.

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the matinee performance of Ain’t Too Proud on 10 August.

 

Aspects Of Love – Q&A (fully booked)

Join the cast of Aspects Of Love for a post-show talk with a Q&A

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the matinee performance of Aspects Of Love on 16 August.

 

Back To The Future The Musical – Cosplay Q&A (fully booked)

Thursday 10 August, 5.10pm – 5.35pm (after the matinee performance)

Great Scott! The cast of Back To The Future will be hosting a cosplay Q&A. Dressing up as your favourite BTTF character is encouraged!

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the matinee performance of Back To The Future The Musical on 10 August.

 

Disney’s Frozen – Music & Movement Workshop (fully booked)

Thursday 17 August, 3.15pm – 4.45pm

Danceworks

Take part in movement and music workshop led by Disney theatrical teaching artist. Learning the moves and vocals to the feel good show number Fixer Upper. The workshop will be 90 minutes long, no performing arts experience required!

This activity is suitable for 8-12 year olds. Parents must stay for the duration of the workshop. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of Disney’s Frozen on 17 August at 7pm to take part.

 

Grease The Musical – Dance Workshop (fully booked)

Wednesday 23 August, 3.30pm – 4.30pm

Take part in a dance workshop with the cast of Grease The Musical!

This activity is suitable for 8-17 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of Grease The Musical on 23 August at 7.30pm to take part.

 

Heathers The Musical – Q&A

Thursday 3 August, 10.15pm – 10.45pm (after the evening performance)

The Other Palace

Join some of the Heathers cast after the performance for a question and answer session. Have you always wanted to know what it’s like performing in Heathers? Now is the chance to ask. Or perhaps you want to hear about their pre-show rituals or what their favourite musicals are. Come with your best questions and the cast will answer them!

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the performance of Heathers The Musical on 3 August.

 

Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors – Workshop (fully booked)

Tuesday 15 August – 12.15pm – 1.15pm

Garrick Theatre

The Horrible Histories workshop will be led by Rebecca Godden who is a practitioner of Performing Arts. It will include fun facts, singing, performing and dancing!

This activity is suitable for 8-12 year olds. Children must be attending the performance of Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors on 15 August at 11am.

 

I Believe In Unicorns – Family Spontaneous Storytelling Workshop

Friday 11 August – 3.50pm – 4.50pm

Apollo Theatre

Join award-winning storyteller Danyah Miller after the performance for a one hour interactive, fun and playful spontaneous storytelling workshop for all the family. A superb way to spark your child’s imagination, we’ll play storytelling games together, making up stories as we go along. Come along whether you want to dive straight in or hold back to observe.

Parents must stay for the duration of the workshop. This is a limited capacity event. Kids Week bookers must be attending the performance of I Believe In Unicorns on 17 August at 2.30pm to take part.

 

I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical – Musical Theatre Workshop

Wednesday 30 August – 4.30pm – 5.30pm

Wilton’s Music Hall

Join the award-winning writer of I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical, Alexander S. Bermange, for a special one-off Musical Theatre Workshop. This workshop will give you the opportunity to develop key performance skills including singing, comedy and acting, through learning and performing material from the show. You’ll also gain a unique insight into the writing process, and find out even more behind-the-scenes secrets about the real-life experiences of the musical theatre performers who inspired the show.

This activity is suitable for 13-17 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical on 30 August at 3pm to take part.

 

Jersey Boys – Dance Workshop

Wednesday 16 August, 3pm – 4.30pm

Trafalgar Theatre

Learn some of the iconic choreography from the Broadway & West End phenomenon taught by cast members on the Trafalgar Theatre stage.

This activity is suitable for 13-17 year olds. Parents and guardians can sit in the theatre auditorium during the workshop. There will be licensed chaperones present for the duration of the workshop to supervise the young people. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of Jersey Boys on 16 August at 7.30pm to take part.

 

Les Misérables – Technical Demonstration (fully booked)

Tuesday 15 August, 4pm – 4.30pm

Sondheim Theatre

Stage ‘Show and Tell’ demonstration comprising automation, sound and lighting elements.

This activity is limited capacity event. Kids Week bookers must be attending the performance of Les Miserables on 15 August to take part.

Mrs. Doubtfire – Dance Workshop (fully booked)

Thursday 17 August, 5pm – 6pm

Helloooo, dearies! Join the dancers of Mrs. Doubtfire The Musical for a special dance workshop, following the matinee show on Thursday 17th August. Bring your poppets for an afternoon of fun as they learn the steps to ‘What the Hell’ from this hilarious, big-hearted musical.

RSC’s Matilda The Musical – Music & Acting Workshop (fully booked)

Join the resident creative team of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s multi-award winning Matilda The Musical for an on-stage music and acting workshop at the Cambridge Theatre.

Matthew Bourne’s Romeo & Juliet – Dance Workshop (fully booked)

Sunday 20 August, 10am – 12pm

Sadler’s Wells

Take part in a dance workshop with some of the New Adventures company dancers from Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet. An opportunity to learn movement and explore the themes of the production, with a Q&A at the end. No dance experience required but an interest in movement is advised.

This activity is suitable for 14-17 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of Matthew Bourne’s Romeo & Juliet on 20 August to take part.

A rare chance to ask cast members from Six what it is like to be a Queen of the West End.

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the performance of Six on 24 August at 5.30pm.

 

The Crown Jewels – Q&A

Join a member of The Crown Jewels’ star cast for an exclusive Q&A.

This activity is open to all Kids Week bookers attending the performance of The Crown Jewels on 3 August at 2.30pm.

 

The Crucible – Q&A

Thursday 10 August, 5pm – 5.30pm

Gielgud Theatre

Put your questions to cast members of The Crucible in this exclusive Kids Week post-show event.

This activity is suitable for 13-17 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of The Crucible on 10 August at 2pm to take part.

 

The Dream – Drama Workshop and Q&A (fully booked)

Monday 21 August, 5.10pm – 6pm

The Perform in the Park Theatre

After the show there will be a Q&A with the actors on stage and then some fun drama games based on The Dream’s performance with a Perform Drama Specialist.

This activity is suitable for 8-12 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of The Dream on 21 August at 4pm to take part.

The Play That Goes Wrong – Comedy Workshop (fully booked)

Thursday 17 August, 11.45am – 12.45pm

Duchess Theatre

The Play That Goes Wrong workshop is the perfect introduction to Mischief’s brilliantly funny comedy, allowing young people to understand the inner workings of the show, and inspiring them to take an interest in theatre and performance.

You will meet some of the cast and company who will introduce the show and explain their role in the production. Everyone will get the chance to perform on the West End stage as they explore comedy and characterisation, as well as get an introduction to the basics of stage combat. The team will be ready to answer any questions you have at the end of the workshop.

This activity is suitable for 9-15 year olds. This is a limited capacity event. Children must be attending the performance of The Play That Goes Wrong on 17 August at 7.30pm to take part.

 

The SpongeBob Musical – Dance Workshop

Wednesday 9 August August, 5pm – 5.45pm

Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall

Learn the underwater grooves featured in The SpongeBob Musical, in this special masterclass led by Dance Captain and cast member Rhys Batten, a seasoned musical theatre dancer, having previously performed in Cats, Cabaret and Joseph. Dance like the residents of Bikini Bottom and you can even come dressed as your favourite character.

We Will Rock You – Backstage Tour (fully booked)

Come and take a look behind the scenes at the nation’s favourite rock theatrical, as you go backstage at the largest theatre in London’s West End!
