5 creative virtual parties that kids will love

With social distancing now becoming a daily norm, it’s only natural that families and friends are looking for more creative ways to connect.

To help set you up with some fun events, we’ve rounded up 5 creative virtual parties that kids will love. No matter whether you’re using Zoom, Skype or Google Chat, these creative parties will help keep you connected and entertained for hours.

Throw a tea party

Take a leaf out of Sophie and her Mum’s book and invite some (virtual) guests for tea

Why not catch up with your friends and family over a cuppa and a slice of cake all from the comfort of your own home? First, schedule a date and time that works for everyone and then collect the email addresses of your virtual guests. Next, agree on your theme! How about The Tiger Who Came To Tea or The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party? You can get the kids involved by creating a menu, getting messy in the kitchen and making your own delicious goods that can be shared (even if virtually!) with your guests. And once you’ve gobbled up your sandwiches and cakes, you could always play a virtual quiz! Nominate one person to arrange it and the winner gets to choose the next virtual party theme!

Virtual campfire hangout

When the sun goes down, gather your friends for virtual campfire sing-alongs and fun!

When the sun goes down, the fun begins! Arrange a time and date for your virtual camp hangout, download the Winter Fireplace app and then all you’ve got to do is grab those marshmallows and some cosy blankets. Why not add a theatre-theme to make it extra fun? Moving around the circle starting from the youngest guest, pick your favourite theatre show and tell everyone about why you love it so much or you could even sing some of your favorite musical songs together. The best part? You can wave goodbye to cold tents and get tucked up into your warm beds once it’s all over. Who said virtual camps couldn’t be fun!

Join a virtual dance party

There’s nothing better than having a good old boogie to some of your favourite songs, so why not host your very own virtual party? It’ll ensure you get your daily dose of exercise in as well as boosting those happy hormones! When inviting your friends and family members, ask each one of them to send in their musical theatre song requests and to download the Laser Disco Lights app. A designated DJ could then pull together the playlist on Spotify, share it with your guests and voila, you’re all set! Ask everyone to dress up (choose a fun theme!), put on those dancin’ shoes and have yourself the best dance party, all from the comfort of your home!

Host a Netflix Party

Grab the popcorn, it’s time for a Netflix Party!

Cinemas may be closed but that shouldn’t stop you bringing your movie nights to your home instead! With Netflix Party you can watch all your fave movies with your loved ones, no matter how near or far. The synchronised video playback and group chat functions are the perfect recipe for a fun night in and the best bit? It’s free! All you have to worry about now is which movie you’ll be watching. If you’re looking to get your theatre fix during your movie night, check out our list of films that got turned into theatre shows.

Virtual board games night

Tap into your competitive spirit while having some fun with your family and friends with a virtual board game night! Whether you’d like to immerse yourself in the world of Catan, bank all the money in Monopoly, get creative in Word With Friends, or think up the best game strategies in Dominion, there is plenty to help you while away the hours.
