A rip-roaring soundtrack of timeless rock songs fuels Knights Of The Rose, a new West End musical of Shakespearean proportions.
Knights Of The Rose tells a tale of betrayal, love, bloodshed and redemption, interweaving rich literature from the likes of Marlowe, Shakespeare and Chaucer with a guitar-slamming playlist of classic rock songs, including five unforgettable Bon Jovi masterpieces.
When their House and their honour are challenged, the noble Knights Of The Rose must rise in defence of the realm. But even as our chivalrous heroes vanquish their opponents, a greater threat against the kingdom stirs – and with it brings the greatest battle of their era. Will true love and honour triumph, or will betrayal tear them apart?
A glorious fusion of popular culture, evocative of Game Of Thrones and Bat Out Of Hell, Knights Of The Rose’s set list features songs from Bon Jovi including Glaze Of Glory, Always and Bed Of Roses, as well as Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero and Total Eclipse Of The Heart, Enrique Iglesias’ Hero, No Doubt’s Don’t Speak, Meatloaf’s Is Nothing Sacred, and Black Sabbath’s Changes.
Former Hollyoaks actor Andy Moss, who portrayed Rhys Ashworth in the flagship drama, plays the lead character, knight Gawain. This production is presented at the Arts Theatre by Romance of the Rose Productions, making its world premiere as a new West End musical. The show is created by Jennifer Marsden.
American Idiot’s Racky Plews directs Knights Of The Rose; his other credits include Thoroughly Modern Mille (UK Tour), Summer Holiday (UK Tour), Footloose (West End and UK Tour) and Vanities (Trafalgar Studios, West End). Leading the noble Knights is Adam Pearce (King Aethelstan) who is joined by Chris Cowley (Palamon), Oliver Saville (Hugo), Rebecca Bainbridge (Queen Matilda / Bess), and more.
With timeless anthems, legendary ballads and a rich tapestry of literature, this high-voltage musical of heroic deeds charges its way into the heart of London on 29 June, for 9 weeks only.
