Young Vic’s Streetcar extends run

The Young Vic has extended the run of its forthcoming production of A Streetcar Named Desire by two weeks due to phenomenal public demand to catch the Gillian Anderson-led drama.

Officially the fastest-selling show of all time for the acclaimed venue, Benedict Andrews’ much-anticipated take on the Tennessee Williams classic will now run until 19 September, with extra tickets also released for every performance during the run.

Andrews’ production will arrive at the Young Vic from 23 July and follows his hugely successful 2012 production of another classic drama for the venue, Three Sisters.

The Critics’ Circle Award winner will direct stage and screen star Anderson as the iconic Blanche DuBois, alongside rising star Vanessa Kirby as her sister Stella and American actor Ben Foster in his London stage debut as the brutal Stanley Kowalski.

In addition to extending the show’s run and increasing the number of tickets available, the Young Vic will also launch its first ever day seat lottery. Following in the footsteps of in-demand shows including The Book Of Mormon, people will be able to enter a daily draw at the box office at 13:00 for matinees and 17:00 for evening performances. The lucky chosen few will be able to purchase up to two £20 tickets for that day’s performance, with £10 concessions available for under 26s.

Tickets for the extra performances announced today will be available from 10:00 on Wednesday 16 July by visiting the Young Vic box office or via the theatre’s website.
