The Woman In Black has extended its run at the Fortune Theatre, taking its more than a quarter of a century West End run to 25 July 2015.
One of London’s longest-running shows ever, The Woman In Black has been terrifying audiences with its tale of the isolated Eel Marsh House and its sinister inhabitant since 1989.
Adapted from Susan Hill’s 1983 novel of the same name, the ghost story centres on solicitor Kipps who is sent to the house to wind up the affairs of the recently deceased Mrs Alice Drablow.
Alone in the spooky property, Kipps catches a glimpse of a young woman dressed only in black and quickly becomes intrigued as to her identity when the locals refuse to break their silence on the mystery of who she might be.
Featuring a cast of just two main characters and a minimalist set, the show this year celebrated its 25th anniversary. Speaking to us about its incredible history and the momentous milestone, director Robin Herford put the production’s success down to its “scary… cracking story and [the] Greek, linear, tragic quality to it that goes straight into the bloodstream.”
