West End welcomes Zeller’s Truth

Florian Zeller’s reign as one of London’s most revered playwrights is set to continue this summer with The Truth the latest of his critically acclaimed works to find a West End home.

Lindsay Posner’s production of Zeller’s biting comedy was first seen at the Menier Chocolate Factory earlier this year when it followed in the footsteps of Zeller’s former London hits The Father and The Mother in collecting an impressive haul of five star reviews.

Described by the Times as “both playful and poignant, cruel and funny”, The Truth tells the story of the unforeseen consequences of a businessman’s extramarital affair.

Told through the eyes of two couples, the production explores friendship, suspicion, deceit and, ultimately, the Truth, in Zeller’s characteristically unpredictable, unsettling style.

The show’s original company, EastEnders Tanya Franks, musical theatre star Alexander Hanson (Stephen Ward, A Little Night Music), Mr Selfridge’s Frances O’Connor and Robert Portal (Communicating Doors, Menier), will reprise their roles as the four intertwined individuals in question.

The Truth will play from 22 June to 3 September and fills the recent gap made in the Wyndham’s Theatre’s programme following the postponement of Lady Day At Emerson’s Bar & Grill after its star Audra McDonald announced her pregnancy.
