Six Broadway Cast

Tony nominations 2022

Ever since the excitement of the Olivier Awards had passed, we’ve been waiting with baited breath to see what shows have been nominated across the pond for the Tony Awards 2022.

It’s always exciting to see what talent and incredible shows are over on Broadway and hope and dream about what might make it over here as well as crossing our fingers that shows that were born on the West End do well over in America!

One such very British export is of course the smash-hit Six The Musical. It’s gone all the way around the world since opening in Edinburgh in 2017, including tours around the UK and US, Australia and New Zealand and even a Norwegian cruise line.

To anyone who’s seen the show or even heard the songs, it’s no surprise that it’s been a hit all around the world, but I can’t help but be continually surprised that the topic of a year 3 history lesson has been so popular outside of England. While we all know the ‘divorced, beheaded, died…’ rhyme, it is an incredible credit to Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow that they’ve managed to take such a quintessentially British piece of history and revamp it so much that it has international appeal.

The nominee list also includes previous London shows The Lehman Trilogy, Girl From The North Country, Company and Hangmen. Sharon D Clarke has been nominated for her performance in Caroline or Change.
