Tina – The Tina Turner Musical turns one!

First birthdays are always special and always deserve a party. That’s why Tina – The Tina Turner Musical went all out with their one year anniversary last night.

To celebrate its a full year of performances at the Aldwych Theatre, the show put on a special gala performance and invited a few special guests. Amongst those watching the brand new Tina and Ike – Nkeki Obi-Melekwe and Ashley Zhangazha respectively – were Erwin Bach, Beattie Edmondson, Adam Garcia, Boy George, Mel Giedroyc, Jason Isaacs, Alex Kapranos, Shirlie and Martin Kemp, Mark King, Prue Leith, Kathy Lette, Chris Moyles, Eleanor Tomlinson, Russell Tovey, Denise Van Outen, and Kimberley Walsh.

The star-studded crowd saw the incredible new musical based on the true story of legendary singer-songwriter Tina Turner. From her humble beginnings to becoming the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, this musical shows that she didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. Laced with Tina’s greatest hits, it’s a 2-hour-and-45-minute party that’ll knock your socks off.

In addition to celebrating its first birthday on the West End, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical also started its run in Germany with preparations underway for its imminent opening on Broadway in autumn this year.

Tina – The Tina Turner Musical received three nominations at this years Olivier Awards including a nomination for Best New Musical.
