Finborough Theatre’s acclaimed world premiere musical version of Thérèse Raquin is to play at the Park Theatre this summer.

Based on Émile Zola’s classic novel, the production, which features music by Craig Adams and book, lyrics and direction by Nona Shepphard, will run at the north London venue from 30 July to 24 August.

Described by the Evening Standard as “intense and accomplished”, Thérèse Raquin is the story of a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to a sickly husband whose life is dull and monotonous. A spark ignites when her husband brings an old friend to a domino game. The stranger raises a passion in Thérèse that threatens to throw all of their lives into chaos.

At the Finborough, where it is currently playing, Julie Atherton stars in the title role, with Jeremy Legat as her husband Camille and Ben Lewis as Laurent. No cast has been announced for the Park Theatre run.

Thérèse Raquin will run in the venue’s larger Park200 space.

Casting details have also been announced for two shows in the theatre’s small Park90 space. Ako Mitchell (Fences) and Sheila Atim will star in Ché Walker’s tale of a drifter who has got too old to drift, Klook’s Last Stand (11 June to 6 July), while Alice Bailey Johnson (Oh What A Lovely War), Ingrid Lacey (Elling) and Ursula Early (Artistic Director of Big Bear Theatre) will appear in Desdemona: A Play About A Handkerchief (14 May to 8 June).
