Sunny Afternoon extends again

Published 2 February 2015

Sunny Afternoon, the hit West End musical featuring songs by The Kinks, has extended its booking period for a third time and will now play at the Harold Pinter Theatre until 24 October.

Edward Hall’s acclaimed production, which was previously booking until 23 May, takes in the rock band’s euphoric highs and agonising lows against the backdrop of a Britain caught between the conservative 50s and swinging 60s.

Featuring a book by Blue/Orange’s Joe Penhall, Sunny Afternoon began life at the Hampstead Theatre in April 2014. Following a sell-out run at the Swiss Cottage venue, the musical transferred to the West End, where it has been delighting audiences with Ray Davies’ legendary tunes since October last year.

Directed by the Hampstead Theatre’s Artistic Director Hall with choreography by Adam Cooper, the production’s cast includes John Dagleish, George Maguire, Ned Derrington and Adam Sopp as the four band members.

The show, which was described by Dominic Cavendish in his five-star review for The Telegraph as “A blazing triumph” features all of The Kinks’ best-loved songs including You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola.

Tickets for Sunny Afternoon’s new booking period will be available to book through us. Alternatively, for performances until 13 February, you can purchase tickets through our discount promotion Get Into London Theatre, which is offering tickets at £30 and £40.
